Impresa, Inc. announces Laurel Dukehart’s return

PORTLAND, Ore., March 30, 2015 – Laurel Dukehart, founding partner in Impresa, Inc. is rejoining the firm after 12 years at the helm of Gateway to College National Network (GtCNN). She will serve as Principal Education and Partnership Strategist, effective April 6, 2015.
As president of GtCNN, a national 501(c)(3) organization, Laurel built partnerships in cities around the country to reengage struggling young people in education and workforce training. Laurel raised nearly $40 million to start college-based programs for young people who left high school without a diploma or who were not on track to graduate. Speaking at the 2013 Clinton Global Initiative America conference, President Bill Clinton stated that Gateway to College helps some of the nation’s most disadvantaged young people realize the American Dream.

Laurel designed national replication of the model, which originated at Portland Community College, led policy efforts, and spoke extensively about the nation’s high school dropout problem. She is a national designer of innovative strategies to reconnect disadvantaged youth to multiple pathways to education and workforce training. Her relationships with funders including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Kresge Foundation, Open Society Foundations, Tipping Point Community, The James Irvine Foundation, the Walmart Foundation, and USA Funds allowed the nonprofit to launch Gateway to College programs in more than 20 states. Under Laurel’s leadership the organization grew to serve over 20,000 students, in partnership with more than 50 colleges and nearly 200 school districts. In 2011, GtCNN received a prestigious Social Innovation Fund award.

“I’m pleased to welcome Laurel back to Impresa. Her expertise will add new capacity to our work,” said Joe Cortright, President and Principal Economist for Impresa, Inc.

Laurel holds bachelor’s degrees in business administration and English from the University of Puget Sound, a master’s degree in Organizational Communication from Marylhurst University, and is an alumna of executive education at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
